8 Days Paddleboarding along the Peloponnese with JSup
About this journey
Seven nights, eight days, two incredible bases and one unforgettable paddleboarding adventure through one of Greece's most spectacular coastal landscapes — hosted by Jay 'JSup' Manning, one of the best-known personalities in UK stand-up paddleboarding.
This is not a conventional Greek holiday. You won't see this coastline through a coach window or from a crowded sightseeing boat. You'll experience it from the water, standing on your board, paddling into places that only reveal themselves from the sea.
Travelling between Kalamata and Pylos, you'll paddle the wild Mani Peninsula, discover secluded coves around Kardamili, explore the clear water surrounding Sapienza Island, journey through historic Navarino Bay, glide beneath dramatic cliffs and sea caves, enter the extraordinary horseshoe bay of Voidokilia and finish along the rugged coastline of Proti Island.
There is another story running through this journey. The Peloponnese is deeply connected with Homer's Odyssey, and Christopher Nolan chose this same coastline — including Voidokilia Bay and Nestor's Cave — for his adaptation of The Odyssey. You'll be paddling the real landscape behind the legend.
Come for the paddleboarding. Leave with the stories, friendships and memories of an extraordinary Greek adventure. Whether you have paddled for years or simply love being on the water, this is about enjoying a remarkable destination in good company, at a pace that lets you properly experience it.

Glimpses of the journey

Your itinerary
A carefully paced journey with time to wander, taste and discover.
Welcome to Kalamata
Your Peloponnese adventure begins the moment you arrive in Kalamata, gateway to one of Greece's most spectacular and historic coastal regions. After transferring to your hotel, settle in and ease into the slower rhythm of southern Greece — warm air, mountains rising behind the city and the blue waters of the Messinian Gulf ahead.
This first day is intentionally relaxed, with time to meet JSup and your fellow paddlers. In the evening everyone comes together for a welcome dinner: local flavours, Greek hospitality and plenty of anticipation. Tomorrow, the boards come out.
Accommodation: Ostria Hotel, Kalamata. Meals: welcome dinner.
Paddling along the Mani Coast
After breakfast you'll travel south towards Kardamili, where the dramatic Mani Peninsula meets the clear waters of the Messinian Gulf. Olive-covered hills tumble to the sea and small coves disappear between rocky headlands. Then it's time to launch.
The waters around Kardamili are renowned for their clarity — from the board you can often see straight down to the rocky seabed. Follow the cliffs, explore caves and unusual rock formations, and stop to swim wherever it looks irresistible. Afterwards, discover Kardamili itself, an atmospheric Mani village of stone buildings, narrow streets and traditional tavernas, before returning to Kalamata.
Accommodation: Ostria Hotel, Kalamata. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
Hidden coves of Messinia
Today you'll head towards Kitries, a small seaside settlement south of Kalamata where the landscape becomes quieter, wilder and far removed from the better-known tourist routes.
Follow the coastline past rocky headlands, small beaches and peaceful coves — places infinitely easier to discover from the sea than from the land. This is one of those days where the journey itself is the experience: stop when somewhere looks irresistible, slip into the warm Mediterranean, float for a while, paddle into another bay. You'll return to Kalamata as the afternoon light softens.
Accommodation: Ostria Hotel, Kalamata. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
Paddle to Sapienza Island
Today the adventure moves west. After breakfast you'll check out and travel across the Peloponnese to Methoni, where the magnificent Methoni Castle stands beside the Ionian Sea and gives the whole area an almost cinematic quality.
But the real adventure lies offshore. You'll paddle the waters around Sapienza Island, part of a wild and largely untouched island landscape beyond Methoni, where the sea shifts between deep Mediterranean blue and brilliant turquoise. Take time to swim and absorb the sheer remoteness of it.
Afterwards the journey continues north to Pylos, your second base, overlooking spectacular Navarino Bay. Tonight, settle in and enjoy dinner together as the second chapter begins.
Accommodation: Karalis City Hotel, Pylos. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
Caves, cliffs and Navarino Bay
If you came to Greece looking for adventure, today delivers it. You'll head onto the waters of Navarino Bay, with the long shape of Sfaktiria Island creating a dramatic natural barrier between the bay and the open Ionian Sea.
This is a day for getting curious — paddle closer to the cliffs, look for openings in the rock, explore caves and passages where conditions allow, and drift across water so clear the world beneath your board is as fascinating as the landscape above. Then stop paddling altogether, jump in and swim. You'll paddle back with tired arms, salty skin and that very satisfying feeling of a proper day outside.
Accommodation: Karalis City Hotel, Pylos. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
Paddle into Voidokilia
This may well be the hero day of the entire itinerary. Almost perfectly curved and backed by rolling dunes, Voidokilia Bay forms an extraordinary natural amphitheatre of golden sand and intensely turquoise water — and you're not simply coming to look at it. You're paddling into it.
Approaching from the water gives an entirely different perspective, the great arc of sand opening in front of you as you glide into the protected bay. Once inside there's time to paddle, swim and simply absorb one of those rare places that looks even better in person than in photographs.
Above the bay lies Nestor's Cave, and the wider area is wrapped in the mythology that has made this corner of Greece famous for thousands of years — ancient story, extraordinary landscape and a paddleboard beneath your feet.
Accommodation: Karalis City Hotel, Pylos. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
The final paddle: Proti Island
After breakfast, travel north to Marathopoli, a small coastal town looking directly across the water to Proti Island. Rugged, peaceful and surrounded by beautifully clear Ionian water, Proti feels wonderfully removed from the Greece most visitors experience.
Paddle its coastline looking for hidden coves and sheltered corners, stopping wherever somewhere proves too inviting to pass. By now you'll know your board better and the group will know one another better — so don't rush this last paddle. Take a swim, lie back on the board and appreciate where the journey has taken you.
Tonight, back in Pylos, everyone comes together for a farewell dinner under the Greek sky. Good food, a few drinks and plenty of stories beginning with “do you remember when…”
Accommodation: Karalis City Hotel, Pylos. Meals: breakfast and farewell dinner.
Farewell to the Peloponnese
There is time for one final breakfast together, probably accompanied by tired arms, photographs being swapped and conversations about which paddle was everyone's favourite. Take one last look across Pylos and Navarino Bay before the journey back to Kalamata Airport.
You'll leave having explored the Mani coastline, hidden Messinian coves, offshore islands, Navarino Bay, sea caves, Voidokilia and Proti Island — much of it from the best possible vantage point: standing on a paddleboard.
Meals: breakfast.

Paddleboarding Pioneer and Adventurer
Jay “JSup” Manning
Jay Manning, better known throughout the paddleboarding world as JSUP, is one of the most recognisable and enthusiastic personalities in UK stand-up paddleboarding.
Jay discovered SUP in the early days of the sport in Britain, coming from a windsurfing background and quickly becoming hooked on the freedom, adventure and community that came with exploring the water on a board. Around two decades later, that enthusiasm is as strong as ever.
Over the years, Jay has become an important part of the growth of SUP in the UK, representing leading watersports brands, taking part in races and events, organising paddle gatherings and introducing countless people to the sport. He has worked with brands including Fanatic UK, ION and K-66 Surf Division, and has been recognised within the industry not simply for his ability on the water, but for his extraordinary ability to bring people together.
For Jay, paddleboarding has always been about far more than performance. It is about people, friendship, exploration and having fun on the water. Whether paddling the Kent coastline, surfing at Joss Bay, exploring somewhere new or travelling internationally, his infectious enthusiasm has helped create communities and friendships around the sport.
Jay has paddled extensively in the UK and overseas and has spent time in California teaching, surfing and sharing his love of SUP with other paddlers. He has also been closely involved with events ranging from brand demonstrations and races to large social and charity paddles.
Now, Jay is bringing that experience, energy and sense of adventure to Greece.
This is not simply a paddleboarding holiday. It is the opportunity to travel and paddle alongside someone who has lived and breathed the sport for years, exploring beautiful coastlines, sharing experiences with like-minded people and enjoying the relaxed social atmosphere for which Jay has become so well known.
With JSUP, the adventure is as much about the people you meet as the miles you paddle.

What our guests say about 8 Days Paddleboarding along the Peloponnese with JSup
“Eight days I'll be talking about for years. Paddling into Voidokilia from the sea genuinely took my breath away, and Jay's energy kept the whole group buzzing. Two hotels meant we saw two completely different sides of the Peloponnese instead of sitting on one beach all week.”
“Brilliantly organised from start to finish. Transfers were on time, both hotels were comfortable and well placed, and the dinners together were half the fun. Sapienza Island and the caves around Navarino Bay were the highlights on the water for me.”
“A wonderful week with lovely people. Some paddles are longer than others so a reasonable level of fitness helps, but there was never any pressure and you could always take it easy. Jay is exactly as warm and enthusiastic as he seems online.”
