Day 1

Welcome to Slovenia! After you arrive at Ljubljana Airport, a private transfer will take you to your elegant hotel located in the heart of Ljubljana.  Begin your day with a private walking tour of Ljubljana, starting at the lively Central Market, where local vendors offer fresh produce and handmade goods. Stroll through the market, taking in the vibrant atmosphere before heading to admire the city’s unique architecture, much of which was designed by the famed architect Jože Plečnik. Highlights include the Triple Bridge and Central Library, showcasing Plečnik’s distinctive style. 

Make your way to Prešeren Square, the heart of the city, bustling with life and framed by the striking Franciscan Church. From here, cross the Dragon Bridge, guarded by the city’s iconic dragon statues, a symbol of Ljubljana’s strength and mythology.  Next, take the funicular up to Ljubljana Castle, perched on Castle Hill. Enjoy panoramic views of the city’s red rooftops and the distant Alps, and explore the castle’s rich history through its exhibits and medieval towers. After descending, indulge in a local snack at a charming bistro in the lively city. Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring at your own pace, whether it’s visiting one of the city’s museums, shopping in the quaint streets, or relaxing in the peaceful surroundings of Tivoli Park. 

Day 3

Today, venture beyond Ljubljana to uncover the historical gems of Maribor and Ptuj, two of Slovenia’s most culturally rich towns. Begin your day in Maribor, Slovenia’s second-largest city, nestled in the embrace of the Drava River. Known for its winemaking heritage and vibrant cultural scene, Maribor offers a delightful mix of history and modernity. Visit the Maribor Castle, a grand structure that houses regional museums filled with art, history, and treasures from centuries past. Wander through the Lent district, the city’s oldest and most atmospheric neighbourhood, where cobbled streets and riverside views create a picturesque scene. 

One of Maribor’s most fascinating attractions is the world’s oldest grapevine, known as the Old Vine. Over 400 years old, this vine is a living testament to Maribor’s deep-rooted winemaking tradition. You’ll have the chance to hear stories about the vine and its role in the city’s culture and annual harvest festivals. 

Next, travel to the ancient town of Ptuj, one of Slovenia’s oldest settlements. Its medieval charm is immediately evident as you walk through narrow streets lined with historic buildings. As you explore, you’ll be transported back in time to the days when Ptuj was a bustling Roman settlement. Take time to wander through the town’s beautifully preserved medieval centre, with its charming squares and colourful façades. Stroll along the riverbank or relax in one of Ptuj’s inviting cafés, soaking up the town’s peaceful ambience. Return to Ljubljana in the evening. 

Day 4

Begin your day with a journey into one of Slovenia’s most extraordinary natural wonders—Postojna Cave. As you board the underground train, you’ll be whisked into a mesmerizing subterranean world. Marvel at the intricate network of limestone formations as you glide through vast chambers adorned with towering stalactites, delicate stalagmites, and otherworldly rock sculptures. The cave’s vast size and eerie beauty will captivate you as your guide explains its fascinating geology and history. Walk through illuminated passages and see highlights like the magnificent “Brilliant,” a pristine white stalagmite, and the towering “Concert Hall,” known for its perfect acoustics.

You may choose to start the day with a peaceful cruise along the Ljubljanica River, gliding past the city’s iconic landmarks like Dragon Bridge and lively riverside cafes while taking in the stunning architecture and rich history. 

Afterward, explore Tivoli Park, Ljubljana’s largest green space, perfect for a relaxing walk or picnic. Alternatively, visit the serene Ljubljana Botanical Gardens, where you can admire a wide variety of native plants. For something more eclectic, head to Metelkova, a colourful district known for its vibrant street art, alternative culture, and lively creative scene.

Day 6

Today, set off on a private tour through the stunning Goriška Hills, a region celebrated for its rolling vineyards, charming villages, and rich history. Your first stop is the enchanting village of Šmartno, a medieval gem nestled atop a hill. Next, head to Nova Gorica, a city that seamlessly blends modernity with its rich cultural heritage. Soon to be the European Capital of Culture in 2025, Nova Gorica offers a lively and evolving cultural scene. Return to Ljubljana in the evening. 

Day 7

Today, embark on a magical journey to Lake Bled, one of Slovenia’s most iconic destinations. Begin with a charming “Pletna” boat ride across the crystal-clear waters to the island at the heart of the lake. Upon arrival, visit the Church of the Assumption (optional – not included), where you can ring the famous wishing bell for good luck. Take a moment to admire the serene beauty of the island and its surroundings. 

Next, head to Bled Castle, dramatically perched on a cliff high above the lake. Explore the castle’s fascinating historical exhibits, including ancient manuscripts and armour, while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the turquoise lake and the majestic Julian Alps in the distance. 

After the guided tour, indulge in a hands-on experience at a Bled cream cake workshop. Learn the secrets behind crafting the famous Bled cream cake (Kremšnita), a beloved Slovenian dessert made of delicate layers of golden pastry, smooth vanilla custard, and whipped cream.
