YOUR ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Beijing
Welcome to Beijing! Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your local guide and transferred by private vehicle to your downtown hotel. Take time to rest and settle in after your journey.
In the evening, enjoy a delicious Beijing Roast Duck welcome dinner, a classic way to begin your exploration of China’s capital.
Day 2: Beijing to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & Temple of Heaven
After breakfast, start your discovery of China’s capital with a visit to Tiananmen Square, the symbolic heart of modern China and the largest public square in the world.
Continue into the Forbidden City, a magnificent 15th-century palace complex and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk in the footsteps of emperors as you explore its sweeping courtyards and intricately decorated halls , once the centre of power for the Ming and Qing dynasties.
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of imperial religious architecture. Learn how ancient emperors once prayed here for bountiful harvests. Nearby, observe a unique local tradition, the Beijing marriage market, where parents gather to find potential matches for their adult children in this modern spin on traditional matchmaking.
Day 3: Beijing to the Great Wall at Mutianyu & Summer Palace
Today, journey into the mountains to visit the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Less crowded yet dramatically scenic, this portion of the Wall winds through dense forests and steep ridges, offering panoramic views across the landscape. (Cable car tickets not included; payable locally.)
After a hearty lunch at a traditional Chinese restaurant, spend the afternoon exploring the Summer Palace, a vast royal retreat built around the serene Kunming Lake. Admire its ornate bridges, elegant pavilions, and willow-lined walkways, a perfect example of Chinese landscape design and imperial leisure.
Day 4: Beijing to Xi’an
This morning, step back in time as you explore Beijing’s historic Hutongs, narrow alleyways that crisscross the old city. Wander past traditional courtyard homes, hear the stories of families who’ve lived here for generations, and experience authentic daily life in the capital.
After lunch, transfer to Beijing West Railway Station for your high-speed train journey to Xi’an, the ancient capital of 13 dynasties. On arrival, meet your Xi’an guide and transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city.
Day 5: Xi’an – Terracotta Warriors & Ancient City Wall
Begin with a visit to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors. Marvel at thousands of life-sized soldiers, horses, and chariots buried to protect China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in the afterlife. Each warrior is uniquely carved, reflecting astonishing craftsmanship.
After lunch, return to Xi’an and explore the ancient city wall, one of the most complete and largest in China. You may choose to cycle along the top (bike rental payable locally), enjoying sweeping views of both old and modern Xi’an from this elevated walkway.
Day 6: Xi’an to Chongqing
This morning, transfer to the station and board a high speed train to Chongqing, a modern city perched above the Yangtze River. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your cruise guide and transferred to the pier to board your 5-star river vessel.
Settle into your cabin and prepare for a leisurely voyage through the dramatic landscapes of the Three Gorges region.
Day 7: Yangtze River Cruise
Start the day with Tai Chi exercises on deck, followed by breakfast. Enjoy a shore excursion to Fengdu, a site steeped in folklore. Depending on conditions, you’ll visit either the eerie Ghost City, with its temples and tales of the afterlife (entry payable locally), or the Fengdu Mount Shuanggui Scenic Area, known for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty.
Back onboard, unwind as you cruise through quiet waters and attend an evening briefing about the Yangtze’s geography and history.
Day 8: Yangtze River Cruise
Today, sail through the Qutang and Wu Gorges, with their towering cliffs and mystical mist. Opt for a shore excursion to White Emperor City (entry payable locally), a historical site with stunning river views, or visit the Shennong Stream, a picturesque tributary known for its emerald waters and traditional trackers’ songs.
Later, pass through the Xiling Gorge and navigate the impressive ship locks leading toward the Three Gorges Dam.
Day 9: Yichang to Shanghai
After breakfast on board, disembark in Maoping and enjoy a guided visit to the world-renowned Three Gorges Dam, a symbol of China’s modern engineering prowess.
Following lunch, transfer to the station and board your high speed train to Shanghai (approx. 8 hours). Arrive in the dazzling metropolis of Shanghai and transfer to your hotel.

Continue to The Bund, where Shanghai’s colonial history meets its futuristic skyline. Enjoy sweeping views of the Huangpu River and the contrast between Gothic, Baroque, and ultra-modern skyscrapers.
After lunch, stroll through the charming Former French Concession, with its leafy boulevards, art deco villas, and bohemian spirit. This historic district offers a glimpse into the city’s unique blend of Eastern and Western influences.
