Your Itinerary:
Day 1 – Arrival in Kigali
Your adventure begins in Rwanda’s lively capital, Kigali. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by your guide and transferred to the historic Hotel Des Mille Collines. If time allows, explore Kigali’s fascinating blend of tradition and progress with visits to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, vibrant craft markets, or enjoy a rooftop dinner overlooking the city skyline. Rest up tonight—the adventure begins at dawn.
Day 2 – Scenic Drive to Nyungwe via King’s Palace Museum
Depart Kigali and journey southwest through Rwanda’s rolling hills and lush countryside. En route, stop at the King’s Palace Museum to learn about Rwanda’s royal heritage and traditions. By late afternoon, arrive at the peaceful Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel near Nyungwe National Park. The rainforest awaits with its cool breezes and whispering canopy.
Day 3 – Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk
Rise early for a thrilling trek into Nyungwe Forest in search of wild chimpanzees. Watch them swing, groom, and call out through the dense jungle. Later, take on the canopy walk, an elevated bridge suspended 40 meters above the forest floor, offering spectacular panoramic views and the chance to spot birds and primates from the treetops.
Day 4 – Transfer to Lake Kivu & Sunset Boat Ride
Leave the forest behind as you make your way to the shores of Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. Settle in at the charming Cormoran Lodge, where log cabins overlook the peaceful waters. In the afternoon, cruise to Amahoro Island and soak in a fiery sunset over the lake—a perfect moment of tranquility and beauty.
Day 5 – Coffee Plantation Tour & Biking Adventure
Today is all about aromas and adventure. Visit a working coffee plantation, where you’ll pick beans, learn about roasting, and enjoy a fresh, rich cup brewed right at the source. In the afternoon, cycle along the scenic Congo Nile Trail, passing lakeside villages and enjoying warm greetings from locals and fishermen as you pedal along the water’s edge.
Day 6 – Journey to Volcanoes National Park
Travel north into the towering Virunga Mountains, where mist drapes the volcanic slopes and adventure hangs in the air. Arrive at Tiloreza Volcanoes Ecolodge, your base for the next three nights. Take time to relax, explore the area, or prepare mentally for one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife experiences, gorilla trekking.
Day 7 – Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Today is the highlight of your safari. After an early morning briefing, begin your trek into the jungle to meet one of the world’s last remaining mountain gorilla families. Once found, you’ll spend a profound hour observing their interactions and absorbing the raw beauty of the moment, a soul-stirring encounter you’ll never forget.
Day 8 – Golden Monkey Trekking & Cultural Village Visit
This morning, explore the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park in search of the playful and rare golden monkeys. Watch them leap through trees with energy and grace. In the afternoon, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village for a warm and immersive cultural experience filled with dance, music, and stories that bring Rwanda’s heritage to life.
Day 9 – Return to Kigali & Departure
After breakfast, journey back to Kigali through the scenic countryside. If time permits, stop for last-minute shopping at local craft markets or galleries.
